I Ching
As an avid oracle reader of I Ching for many decades, I have added associated I Ching Readings into my Tarot Readings. Book of Changes, I Ching, is one of the most influential books of wisdom reaching back to perhaps as far as 5,000 years. The famous psychologist Carl Jung used the Oracle to explore the unconscious mind. Jung endeavored in understanding how the Oracle offered such inspired answers. From his research the concept of synchronicity was born, thus solidly establishing the idea that certain events that appear significantly related strangely have no discernible casual connection. This can be taken as perceived meaningful coincidences of events evolving one out of the other.
Synchronicity melds the coincidence of events in space and time and takes it above the notion of mere coincidence in time into a reality of a situation. The I Ching reflects the patterns of nature to explain the symmetries and asymmetries of life in relation to all things. From the idea of yin and yang, opposing forces become complementary and interdependent in the natural world that seeks the duality of balance (i.e. water expanding and contracting).
I Ching divination unravels the secrets of antiquity while offering a font of wisdom to make insightful choices at the appropriate time. Follow along on my Winds of Jupiter Tarot YouTube Channel to familiarize yourself with the changing mood of my I Ching Readings. Although I present the more traditional translations of the hexagrams on my Youtube videos, I have also written my own I Ching descriptions to bring it up to modern times on my I Ching Meanings page.
Tarot Cards
Tarot Readings are the mainstay of my Winds of Jupiter Tarot YouTube Channel. Tarot cards transformed from simple parlor games into a serious oracle tool that has stood the test of time with a burgeoning modern interest. The deck of 78 is broken up into 22 Major Arcana or trump cards and 56 Minor Arcana court and one through ten cards of four suits. The word "Arcana" means mystery or secret as is the meaning of the word Rune.
It is said that true Tarot is symbolism; it speaks no other language and offers no other signs, which is a serious connection to our inner-unconscious self. The Magician is the first numbered card in the deck and personifies Tarot as the magical key to the mysteries of our universe and our own little microcosm. As the Magician, we are able to create meaning out of the meaningless, be the interpreter of our own destiny. We cannot ignore that cosmic forces exist when our own bodies are made out of star dust.
Symbols are ideas, ideas have substance and words have power. Abstract meaning of the symbols are messages that need to be interpreted through analogies, metaphors, similes, dreams, intuition and mind-connecting images to make the power of these symbols have meaning that we can put into words. Then, as The Magician, we have control over our lives. Tarot brings forth cosmic forces to connect with your reality experience. Messages come from the cards; you just have to crack the code of their secrets. The synchronization of the mind, body and spirit with the mysteries of Tarot is explained in my Tarot’s Trinity article.
Runes
As with the I Ching, I have added associated Rune (ᚱᚢᚾᛟ) Readings to my Tarot Readings.
There are many versions of the runic alphabet, but in my readings I use the Elder Futhark alphabet, which is the most commonly used alphabet today for divination. Runes are considered letters with mysterious or magic significance. The word Runa comes from the Norse word meaning letters, secret, mystery or something that carries magical powers. The Elder Futhark’s 24-basic runes represent gods, people, animals and occurrences. To write a rune invoked the forces that the sacred symbol represents.
Runes are associated with the Norse god Odin who is portrayed as more of itinerant wanderer as The Fool in Tarot, embarking on quests as a relentless seeker of wisdom who rules magic and cunning. His oversight ranged from war to poetry to death. The name Odin is translated into "Master of Ecstasy" with associations to animal totems, and his magic is allied to animism, belief that objects, places, and creatures all possess a distinct spiritual essence; all things have a consciousness.
Magic then was a normal part of everyday life, and magic and great knowledge appear to be synonymously linked to destiny, knowing the future. In their minds–what is understood can be controlled. Runes were their key to the hidden unknown of reality. Divination of the runes marked the boundaries of freewill for actions within the limits of the secrets that the runes exposed. This magic is believed to have discerned and shaped destiny. For more runic insight, please refer to my Runes article.
